July
Well it is officially summer now, and gardens are in transition again. Spring greens have made way for Summer's full growth as well as the start of Winter's harvest. Our local lettuce supply is waning but the summer fruits have started with local strawberries having made an appearance and multiple cherry varieties on the cooler's shelves. The wonderful supply of local potatoes has been consumed but early beets are still coming. Zucchini and summer squash in shades of yellow and green are a delight to look at and the smell of fresh garlic fills the store. There is still some vibrant local kale available and swiss chard is also still being brought in. Watering my garden tonight, after the bit of rain we have had, I saw that tomatoes are not far off and the beans are starting to flower. Raspberries are ready for eating. The corn is taller, tomatillos are forming, and there are a few baby winter squash on the vines. Looking forward to seeing what the next weeks bring in.
